Little Big Differences

Have you ever wondered what the impact of picking up a piece of garbage on the road could do? Or even using a bucket to shower at least once a week? What about not using a straw every time you’re at a fast food joint?

For most people these things may be seem like small acts of kindness that most of us try to do every day. And although they are, I like to look at these efforts a bit differently. I see them as our Little Big Differences in the world. Yes, I know that saying little and big seems to contradict itself but that’s what I believe these efforts would do for our world. Imagine if the balance of Global Warming was shown through a weighing scale, with one side being the negative and the other being the positive.

Now think about all our efforts as pebbles in that weighing scale. If each person did at least one little big difference every week or every day imagine how many pebbles you’d be able to remove! As I said earlier imagine the balance of global warming was a weighing scale. by removing one single pebble you would be able to tilt the scale by even a .000001 degree angle. Don’t you think that would already be making a big difference? That small pebble of yours would already be creating a big change in the balance and would slowly be helping you the world finally tip the scale!

So.. Since the theme for this year is Sustainable Development I propose that we should all try to make our own Little Big Differences in the World.

My Little Big Differences :
1. Pick up pieces of  trash and dispose of it properly.
2. Go vegetarian once a week. ( its good for my health and the environment!)
3. Try to use natural light as much as possible.
4. Be aware of my actions and how they affect Mother Nature.

Ideas :
1. Use one bucket to shower at least every week! ( i've tried it! its not as hard as it sounds.)
2. Use a glass when brushing your teeth.
3. Segregate your trash!
